The Brunner Ruckstep XL is a folding double step that makes it easier to get into a campervan, caravan or van, especially when the door sill is high above the ground. It has two steps: the first at 20 cm and the second at 40 cm. The frame is made of steel and the treads have an anti-slip surface. The feet also have anti-slip tips, so the step does not slide easily on the ground. The manufacturer specifies a maximum load of 150 kg. Unfolded, the step takes up 61 x 60 cm; folded, it lies flat at 81 x 61 x 6.5 cm and fits in a boot, a rear garage or under the bed.

Unfolding and folding

• Unfold the step fully until both pairs of legs rest firmly on the ground.
• Place it on level, firm ground as close to the vehicle door as possible.
• Before stepping on it, check that it stands steady and does not wobble.
• After use, fold it flat and put it away before you drive off.

Dimensions and storage

Unfolded, the Ruckstep XL has a 61 x 60 cm base and is 40 cm high at the top step. Folded, it forms a flat 81 x 61 x 6.5 cm package. This lets it fit into narrow spaces, for example behind a seat, in the rear garage, in the drawbar box of a caravan or in an outside locker. The 6.4 kg weight comes from the steel construction, but the step is still easy to carry with one hand.

Double step or single step

A double step is useful where the door is higher and there is more height to cover. Two lower steps are more comfortable than one high step, especially for children and older people, or when you carry shopping or luggage. If the door sill is low, a single step is enough. Before you buy, measure the height from the ground to the door sill and compare it with the step heights of 20 and 40 cm.

Safe use

• Do not exceed the 150 kg load.
• Soft ground, sand or grass can give way, so set the step up on a flat, firm spot.
• Step onto the middle of the tread, not the edge.
• Take extra care in icy or snowy conditions.

Care

Wipe the steel frame and treads with a damp cloth and a mild cleaner. Remove mud and sand from the anti-slip surface with a soft brush. Dry a wet step before folding and storing it, so it stays in good condition for longer.
